About Eyes On Photo Tours

Eyes On Photo Tours was born of a marriage of shared passions: photography and travel.

Having achieved success in their respective careers, two friends, David and Robert, found themselves restless and looking for new challenges. With a combined 65 years of travel and photography experience between them, they wanted to share their passions for photography and travel “off the beaten track” with others in a unique and meaningful way.

Many ideas, dreams, and cigars were tested on a back porch in small town Ontario, Canada, over many summers nights. Over the ensuing months, the conversation evolved and the plan became more focused. The mission at Eyes On Photo Tours is to put our clients in the path of inspiring photographic opportunities, to seek out authentic experiences, and to get you away from the tourist trail whenever possible. Combined with a streamlined approach to instruction that does not stop at what a tool does, they emphasize the process of how and why the tools work together to better achieve the photographic vision that may be eluding you at present.

From the outset, their vision for Eyes On Photo Tours was to provide niche photographic workshops against a unique visual background of visually exotic destinations. It was no surprise that Havana, Cuba and Myanmar became their first tour offerings, as both locations offer an unparalleled visual banquet to photographers.

Eyes On Photo Tours is committed to making every photography workshop an epic experience! They embrace Kai-Zen philosophy (continuous improvement) and strive to make future workshops even better with exciting new locations and instructors that will stimulate your inner artist and allow you to check off some of those bucket-list travel destinations.

It has been an exciting journey for them… one they hope you will decide to join soon!

About: David Vaughan

David acquired his nomadic spirit early on in life, growing up in an Air Force family constantly on the move to new postings every few years. Using a Voigtlander range-finder handed down from his father, he honed his skills in the fast-paced, competitive world of high school yearbook photography.

Over the ensuing decades, his passion for all-things photographic has become an important part of his personal life and career.

About: Robert T. Norton, AACI, P. App

Photography at its most basic level is a meditative experience for me, a place where I can be in the moment and where all of my focus is on getting the shot.

It is also a place of incredible freedom where I can experiment and push my creativity while enjoying the fluid excitement of exploration and reinvention.

What I bring to the Eyes On Family is an extensive background in travel, award winning photographs, numerous publication credits, and experience as a professional development instructor.
